Goldberg Machine
The Goldberg Machine team building event combines the advantages of the classic Chain Reaction and the Constructor program:
- Advantages of Constructor team building activity - large beautiful framework, simple and intuitive assembly of the main units according to the drawing. The ability to assemble large blocks followed by connecting them each other. The ability to vary the complexity and number of elements. The ability to connect all structures in one large chain.
- The advantages of "Goldberg Machine" team building activity - the freedom of customization and a creativity opportunities. The drawing defines only the general design scheme, and the team comes up with the details on their own, and the same element can be done in different ways. Thanks to this, the result significantly depends on the team’s diligence and attentiveness, and the intrigue remains - the chain will work or not, so it’s really interesting to assemble and run the chain.
Elements of "Goldberg Machine" are designed in "steampunk" style – brass, gears, red wood, fire and steam. All materials are natural, safe and pleasant to hold in your hands. Our “machine” uses a unique framework, a system of axles and gears, unique triggers. You can use balloons with air and helium, simple pyrotechnics, electricity and, of course, classical mechanics - balls, carts, pipes, blocks and similar elements.
"Goldberg Machine" team building activity could be:
- “Cooperative” - each team builds one of the elements of a common large chain. All elements are joined together and run one from another. Since the elements may be different for all teams, the result is a large and varied “machine”. A good option for a short program for one to two hours.
- “Competitive” - teams compete among themselves. Initially, all teams either have the same or similar set of elements, and each team makes its own independent “machine” of several elements. The result is evaluated by the jury according to various criteria (the machine worked or not, the number and variety of elements, design and “idea” of the machine). The option is good for a full three-hour team building event.
